What a great way to see Paisley!
DISABLED Buddies got into gear as they took a tour of Paisley.
Almost a dozen sightseers hit the streets in their special mobility scooters as they roamed around some of the beautiful sights of the town.
And organisers revealed that everyone had a wonderful time during the trip, including a special tour of the world-famous Tannahill Cottage in Queen Street.
The Shopmobility team, which is based at The Paisley Centre car park in Storie Street, staged the free Walking Tours on Wheels event. Wheelchair-bound Les Fernie, who used to run tours around Paisley for visitors from all over the world, organized the event. He said: "Everyone who too part thoroughly enjoyed themselves and the weather was fantastic.
"We couldn't have asked for better and had a great turnout, with about ten people taking part.It was a great response for the first ever event and everyone was really geared up for the tour."
The Shopmobility centre is a charity organization which receives funding from Renfrewshire Council, that gives those in wheelchairs or struggles with walking distances the opportunity to use the scooters so they can shop in Paisley. Les,who has suffered two strokes and has the degenerative joint disease osteoarthritis, added:
"What we are trying to do is highlight the service offered by Shopmobility for wheelchair users."The idea is for people who use a wheelchair or mobility scooter to come out and explore the wonderful sights and take in some of Paisley's past."But the highlight for most of the group during the tour had to have been going into the Tannahill Cottage."Most of the group had never been inside before an luckily we were given an access-all-areas pass."And with the success of the first event,Les revealed that he plans to put on another Walking Tours on Wheels event next month".
